Individual Personal Property Online Filing

Welcome to our Online Filing System. Here you can file your Individual Property Returns online starting July 1st. 

WV Code Chapter 11-3-2 requires all residents to file a report of their real and personal property each year. You may either file via the link provided below or through the forms sent to you through the mail. If you file online there is no need to mail in the paper forms. Please complete your filing by October 1st.

Homestead Filing

To start, please fill out this application: 

***HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION***

You must fill it out, print it, and then sign it and scan it back in to your computer and email it to HOMESTEAD@KANAWHA.US

Along with that you must send a copy of your driver’s license and if your spouse is on the application both driver’s licenses must be submitted as well.

If you are filing with a disability you will need to send a copy of your disability form. *****

The deadline for filing for the Homestead Exemption for the upcoming tax year is December 1st. This deadline is statutory and by state law, the Assessor has no authority to extend it.

NOTE: The Homestead Exemption is not based on your income. The Senior Citizens Tax Credit (W.Va. Code §11-21-21.) THIS IS HANDLED BY THE STATE TAX DEPARTMENT.
